Danny Boyle's latest to close film festival

Danny Boyle's new movie Slumdog Millionaire has been chosen to close this year's London Film Festival.

The film – which features an all-Indian cast - focuses on an orphan who finds himself one question away from winning 20 million rupees on India's version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Dev Patel stars as Jamal Malik, who is questioned by police about his presence on the hit gameshow before he has to come up with the all-important answer.

Additionally, the Trainspotting director will give an interview looking back over his career as part of the Screen Talks series.

"I am delighted that the film will receive its European premiere at the London Film Festival," Boyle said.

"I hope that Londoners will respond to this story about another great megatropolis - Mumbai, 'the Maximum City'."

Sandra Hebron, the festival's artistic director, said she was "thrilled" the festival was closing with the work of one of the UK's "most talented and versatile directors".
