Foxx 'to star in Citizen'

Jamie Foxx is being tipped to take the lead role in a new thriller from Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont.

The Miami Vice star will play a devastated husband out to avenge the murder of his wife and daughter in Law Abiding Citizen, reports the Guardian.

Foxx is said to be in final discussions to play the vigilante, who takes the law into his own hands when his family's killer walks free from jail on a plea bargain.

Gerard Butler - who has recently been seen in Guy Ritchie's gangster caper RocknRolla - is also set to appear as a high-flying district attorney.

According to the report, his character will be caught up in the legal fiasco which results in the release of the killer.

Elsewhere, it has been reported that the Butler is being investigated over an alleged attack on a photographer – after a paparazzo accused the 300 star of punching him several times in the face.
