Based on stories from the bestselling book The Girls' Guide To Hunting And Fishing, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Grudge) stars in this funny and disarmingly wise romantic comedy set against the exhilarating backdrop of New York City. Gellar is Brett, a naive associate book editor embarking on her first big job. Brett is overwhelmed until she develops a romance with the seasoned literary star Archie Knox (30 Rock's Alec Baldwin) and is introduced to a glamorous new world. But when she faces a family crisis, Brett must make the decision of a lifetime as this girl from the 'burbs finds herself at a big-city crossroads.

Shockingly poor

Michelle Schofield from London, 8th July, 2008

Having recently seen and loved Sex and the City the movie, I was looking for something to feed my appetite for a similar sassy, intelligent, witty and girly film. Having read the blurb on this, I thought it might have been just what I was looking for and with Sarah Michelle Gellar surely it would be atleast half decent? Erm no.....shocking is the word I would use for how poor this film was. The supposed heroine was a total drip and completely pathetic, her love interest (a rip off of Carrie and Mr Big) completely unbelievable, unlikeable and had more than just a little bit of a pervy old man vibe to him! Cliched, quite boring and with some finger down the throat inducing cheesy lines, this certainly didn't fit the bill of what i was looking for. To be fair to follow SATC is a tall order, but the fact that my friends and I were looking at eachother in confusion and disbelief, waiting for a punchline that never came for most of the film, is never really a sign of a good movie! Don't waste your time!!

Absolute rubbish

Churst from , 17th July, 2008

I didn't even finish it because the storyline was so flat, and the acting so poor. It was pretty hard to even work out what the storyline was, so my review I'm afraid is as vague as the film. I just gave up on it in the end.

Dull, dull, dull

A Customer from Aberdeen, 9th November, 2008

I'm actually still 'watching' (read: enduring) this film as I write but as the story was so dull and it was disasppointing to see SMG and Alex Baldwin in such a bad film I feel compelled to warn others off it. SMG's acting is wooden at best, possibly due to the weak character in the film she attempts to portray. Plus its too creepy for words seeing her get it on with Alec Baldwin. The one good things about the film is that it isn't overly long so I've not long to go til it ends....

Absolute cack

A Customer from Newtownards, 28th October, 2008

Only once in my life have I not finished watching a movie. I lost the will to live after 20 mins of this one and switched it off after 30. Terrible and I can't remember even selecting it from the library???

Brainless tosh! I cannot believe Alec Baldwin was a part of this - was it working with SMG that attracted him to the part, as I don't think he read the script.
