Lou Reed recorded the album Berlin in 1973. It was a commercial failure. Over the next 33 years, he never performed the album live. For five nights in December 2006 at St. Ann's Warehouse Brooklyn, Lou Reed performed his masterwork about love's dark sisters: jealousy, rage and loss.

I am a long standing fan of the original album and really enjoyed the film. However it would be difficult to reccomend it to anyone not familiar with the album. As with most concert movies the filmakers don't have much room to do much other than point cameras at the stage. There is a bit of projecting bits of film which relates to the story but overall the most striking visual feature of the film is Lou's wrinkled face. Thankfully they don't make too kuch of 'the kids crying ' sequence, surely the most harrowing song ever recorded. There is another highlight in the encore when Anthony Hegarty does a storming version of 'Candy Says'. Makes you wish he done a bit more in the concert itself as he is a bit wasted as a backing singer.

Interesting enough if you like Lou Reed's music. Worth it alone for the few minutes footage of Antony Hegarty singing 'Candy Says' - breathtakingly beautiful.
