Slightly letting the side down but still enjoyable.

Often when a series does a Christmas Special it tends to be rather disapointing, the comedy feels forced and it doesn't fit well with the general series. But not with Still Game, at least until the final episode: Hootenanny. But despite that there are still 3 great episodes here and Hootenanny, though disappointing, is still entertaining. This DVD consists of the 2 Christmas episodes: Cold Turkey and Plum Number. And the 2 Hogmanay episodes: The Party and Hootenanny. First we have Cold Turkey. Winston thinks he's found himself a deal when he's offered a fresh turkey for only 6 quid, the only problem is that it's a little fresher than he expected. Jack and Victor neglect to get Isa her annual bottle of Advocaat and end up without a Christmas dinner. Then there's The Party, arguably the best of the episodes here. Jack, Victor, Winston, and Isa get stuck in the lift. They spend their time reminiscing of the last time the lift was broken - New Year 1975. This is a rare chance to see the actors without the age make up, as we join them at Victor's first party in his new flat. Next up is Plum Number, in which Jack and Victor join the comunity choire. After taking the required flack down at The Clansman the idea is generally embraced by all. Tam is his ever scamming self, trying his best to cheat the thousand pound jackpot out of Bobby's new fruit machine. The last episode, not just here but the final ever episode of Still Game, is sadly disappointing after the hilarity that precedes it. Jack, Victor, Tam, and Winston all head to the highlands for New Year, of course things don't exactly go to plan. Isa heads to Navid's for the bells, with surprising results. So if you enjoy Still Game it pretty much goes without saying that this is a must see.
