From the director of the astonishing "Story Of The Weeping Camel" comes an epic tale of wartime drama.

She has the heart of a fighter: filled with strength, love and longing. Despite the chaos and turbulence of her country's savage war of independence, Awet grows up peacefully in an orphanage, lovingly cared for by Italian nuns. Then, one day, Awet learns that her father, a hard-bitten freedom fighter, is still alive and demands her return.

Amidst her new, highly unusual family, Awet finds not warmth and security but poverty and hard work. She and her sister are ultimately given away to one of the rival liberation armies as "daughters of Eritrea." There amongst the brutal lessons of life, Awet learns the ideals of freedom and experiences the numbing madness of war, coming face to face with death and fanaticism.

But her "heart of fire," her courage and her conscience finally show her a way out...

Heart of Fire

A Customer from Sevenoaks, Kent, 24th February, 2010

An amazing film - and based on a true story. My children (14 and 10) watched it and were amazed at what some children in Africa have to deal with. It was not too gruellling for them even though it deals with such a tough topic. Watch it.

Harrowing but inspiring.

A Customer from Troon, 21st July, 2010

This is not a film for entertainment but a story that eats at your heart and leaves you feeling blessed that you have not experienced civil war.The journey of our young heroine is full of dramatic turns with a finale that emphasises her strength and humanity despite the horrors and brutality endured by her.Worth watching -thought provoking.
