(1995)

An adaptation of Danielle Steel's best selling novel, 'Vanished', features Steel's formula of glamorous period settings, romantic triangles, and family melodrama. Marielle Delauney moves to New York after an accident in Paris tears her happy family life apart. She meets and marries wealthy industrialist Malcolm Patterson, with whom she has a child. But when her child is kidnapped, Marielle realises that the events of her tragic past in Europe may be the motivation for the crime.

George Hamilton reveals that beneath the tan there beats the heart of a heel in this TV movie based on another novel by the queen of popular fiction. Refusing to forgive ex-wife Lisa Rinna for the death of their son, Hamilton jets to the States to kidnap the child she's since had with new beau Robert Hays. Director George Kaczender works overtime to make us believe in this melodramatic tosh and its cardboard characters, but for all his efforts this is tiresome viewing. Incidentally, Rinna and Hays's child is played by Alex D Linz, clearly defenceless in his pre-Home Alone III infancy.
