A spectacular tale of betrayal and revenge featuring some of the most stunning martial arts fighting ever seen on film. Based upon an age old legend, The Assassin's Blade tells the story of a girl, Yan Gi who disguised as a boy, enters the country's greatest all-male martial arts academy. Struggling with the physical strength of her male counterparts Yan Gi finds an ally in the school's top student, Chan Shan, who discovers and tutors her to become one of the most lethal assassins in the academy.

The pair eventually fall in love but the girl is betrothed to a childhood friend Ma, who embarks on a violent plan of blackmail to ensure that she becomes his wife. When Ma's treachery is revealed, Chun Shan has no choice but to use all that he's learned from the academy to exact justice.

Don't waste your time

Philbo1981 from , 22nd June, 2010

You've seen this movie a number of times, it sticks to the formula like most genre films. But with little action. It's a real soppy love story that is unbearable most of the time. You've probably seen better versions of this movie. Avoid. The little martial arts action is good, but so little that by missing this movie you miss virtually nothing anyway.

More Assassins More Blades please

Dorsal from , 3rd September, 2010

This is an average love story with some pleasant visual cinematic scenes. The acting performances are limited and there is little effort made to transform a girl into a boy in order for her to attend a boys martial arts school. I found this strange as surely it isn't the most difficult transformations to make. Although i do not regret my time spent watching this film i could not recommend it to martial arts fans and the story fails to compensate for the lack of action.
