Time Out

With a beefcake physique suggesting oncoming harm, Jason Statham would have made a great '80s action hero. But...

Triple Team!

Daftorbital from from Weston Super Mare, 27th September, 2011

Sometimes movies come along that are predictable, silly, convoluted, badly acted. this has elements of all those factors but it plays to its strengths which is; pretty frenetic and well shot action scenes from, lets not forget, a first time director. Everything else is well under par. The thing that does play better than the rest involves the suspense and intrigue that comes with trying to decide who really is the bad guy here? The script is poorly conceived, the editing of the plot strands a mess, the acting bar the main players is atrocious although Dominic Purcell's English-welsh-Australian hybrid, cocky assassin has some fun with his dialogue. The plot has holes the size of, well the universe, though i was intrigued by the story of 'what would Osama do if his sons were murdered' until i realized eventually that what they answer that with here is alarmingly stupid(oh hang on; based on a true story, ummmm). But like i say, the action is handled well and is a throwback to the sort of action frolics that made some of the best action films of the 90s look like masterpieces and say what you like about Statham but hes just worked with one of the greatest acting talents that ever graced our screens. I've seen worse in this genre thats for sure

Some old school action (plus optional caterpillar)

TheWatchman from from Suburbia, 18th January, 2012

Killer Elite stars three heavyweight performers – Robert DeNiro (nuff said), Jason Statham, Clive Owen and a three inch hair caterpillar who balances delightfully on Clive Owen’s upper lip throughout every last shootout. Statham is an ex mercenary whose mentor, DeNiro, gets kidnapped, forcing poor Jason out of his Down Under hideaway to rescue him while pursued by Clive Owen and the caterpillar. I found this an odd film, not the plot, the acting, or the shootouts, just the retro UK feel. I’m used to seeing these sorts of films set in America and thinking nothing of it. Yet spending nearly two hours watching secret societies and black op killers driving early eighties cars through London’s council estates just didn’t seem real to me (like getting caught up in international spy rings happens to me every day). Killer Elite kind of takes everything that’s good about the four leads: Statham’s ‘hard man’ action scenes, DeNiro’s loveable gangster persona (okay, so he’s a mercenary in this, but, seriously, he could be straight off the set of Goodfellas), Clive Owen’s suave should-have-been-James-Bond style and the caterpillar’s fuzziness in the face of danger. Then the movie blends all of these together, even claiming that it’s all based on true events (or a book at least claiming it was all real). If you like your action ‘old school’ and ‘rough and ready,’ you’ll probably like Killer Elite. Dare I say it, it’s probably ‘lads only?’ It’s hardly a ‘chick click,’ although some ladies may manage to sit through it based on Statham’s arms, Owen’s gaze and the caterpillar’s strokability. Solid and better than average, but, ultimately, nothing new.

Give it a pass

What a sad load of tosh. Silly story, wooden acting (yes, even from de Niro) and I can only assume they were well-paid. To cap it all the camerwork was in so tight that you couldn't appreciate the stunts properly. If you want to see how to film action, watch 'Rodin'.

Must watch!

Loved every part of this movie. A typical Statham movie- lots of action. A clear plot and an insane fight sequence. would recommend watching this if you haven't already.

This movie is terrible, dont waste your time.

EwanSays from from , 16th May, 2012

With name like Robert Deniro and Clive Owen, and even Jason Statham to an extent, involved youd be forgiven for thinking this was going to be a great movie. What you would soon find out that its far from what you expect. Predictable, sometimes even boring action sequences, a blimb limping one legged obese plot, if you miss a line of dialog youre probably not going to have a clue whats going on for the next 15 minutes, and its easy to miss the dialog with all the rediculous accents. Its so bad I nearly turned it off, and I watched Valhala Rising all the way to the end once! This movie is terrible, dont waste your time.

Statham goes from strength to strength !

wilful from from , 9th May, 2012

Good story, top action and brilliant cast, Jason Statham and Clive Owen are excellent. Surprisingly Robert De Nero is under used and the 1980 backdrop doesn't seem that accurate ,however it doesn't detract from the film .I really enjoyed this movie .

top drawer.

bluehazeman from , 4th May, 2012

a film with a cast including Robert DeNiro, Clive Owen (best i`ve seen him) and Jason Stratham is a pretty safe bet even if you have not heard much about it as these guys can cherry pick their films and being based on a true story makes it even better, great action scenes and a brooding undercurrent of vested interests make this a smashing movie that is one you will want to watch a couple of times at least, highly recommended viewing.
