This DVD a must for ballet lovers!RB production with sets by Lancaster.Enjoyable all round performances. The Royal Ballet blessed with a corps who know how to act as well as the principals. Additional material includes interesting (short) documentary about ballet shoes

Coppelia

I have never seen Coppelia before and I really enjoyed watching Royal Ballet's version of it. The dancers are amazing and the story of the ballet is quite different and at some points quite funny. The DVD has lots of special features and I would definately reccomend it to anyone, even non-ballet fans.

Beautifull Coppelia

I'm just coming back to ballet after a long time away, I usually watch opera. This was an ideal reintroduction! The sets and costumes were lovely and the dancing superb. I'm no expert, but I can thoroughly recommend this performance!

Wow!

Filmed so that, watching on a big flat screen TV, you can feel as if you are actually in the Opera House itself as you see the conductor take up his position and the curtains open and close and hear the live audience expressing their appreciation - especially of the well-conveyed humour - in this exuberant and very precise performance by the Royal Ballet. More than that, the adventurous filming gives us the advantage of seeing not only the details in close ups of the faces and movements but, in addition, we are treated to some very unusual viewpoints such as from the doll's angle looking outwards - not something that would be possible from any seat in the house! Leanne Benjamin is a really excellent dancer and actress and moves around the stage so easily. Loved her as the naughty doll. So playful and natural, yet so creative too! Particularly graceful pas de deux with Carlos Acosta in the final Act, who is very handsome and strong in the role of Franz. Could watch it again and again. And I did. Must see more.....
