Battlestar started off as a snuff film (4.5 stars)

Nigel Stafford from England, 16th May, 2005

Finally the've put philosophical intelligence back into science fiction - and it's been a while. Excellent casting, sterling performances, stunning visuals, a cryptic plot, and good chemistry between the characters, sets this version of Battleship Galactica light years ahead of its predecessor. The more you watch the more you are drawn in. The robots are scarier - humanities plight more precarious - and the episodes are all part of a grander scheme - this is compulsory viewing - particularly for space buffs.

Really Excellent

A Customer from London, 23rd July, 2005

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT THE MINI SERIES BEFORE YOU WATCH THESE. I watched disc 1 before watching the mini series and it was very confusing. I went back and watched the mini series and then continued at disc 2 and it was really great.

Expected the worst but now im hooked

A Customer from Newcastle, 8th October, 2005

I stumbled across this remake of the old series and was hit by pangs of nostalgia. Unlike many attempted remakes or spin-offs which have failed so spectacularly, this one pulls it off. There are a few cosmetic changes to the Cylons and Galactica crew which took some getting used to but this is definitely a hit - I cant wait for the next installment to arrive. IT IS IMPORTANT TO RENT 'BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE MINI SERIES' AS SEASON 1 FOLLOWS ON DIRECTLY FROM THAT DISK.

Awful

Normal666 from from Hull, 10th May, 2008

Badly acted, badly cast and awful concept. As a big fan of science fiction and having seen every episide of most popular sci-fi series in the past i approached this title with great anticipation. After the first four episodes i quickly picked up on the fact that it was badly acted, badly cast and a awful concept. I actually stuck to Voyager despite cringing when Jayneway spoke and the same with Sisco as the other lead cast made it watchable. So many of the lead characters in this series are so instantly dislikable that i wont be going back.

Battlestar Galactica

I watched the mini-series - wasn't impressed but thought I'd rent Series 1 of BG to see if I liked it. Some episodes are better than others and I wish that such long time had not elapsed since I saw the mini - I rented everything - as I can't remember certain things and I find this frustrating. Not overly impressed - I wonder how they ever made it into space sometimes.

Battlestar Galactica

Just to let you all know I have just rented the final season of Battlestar Galactica on Blu Ray and have found it to be rather strange... I watched the previous seasons on DVD and was excited to see it now available on Blu Ray but having just watched the first disc I am confused to find the menus and CGI effects in amazing HD quality but the actual filming to be in only DVD quality. Until we find out what is going on I would not recommend waiting for it on Blu Ray. Any ideas why the film quality is so poor?

The "PLEASE NOTE" is misleading in the above film details, but enjoyed thus far

A Customer from England, 24th September, 2009

Not entirely clear, but the same TV mini series *is* included in this Season One set. I would of enjoyed watching the HD-DVD version first if that statement hadn't given the impression of needing to watch the other one, I guess what it means to say is the 3 hour intro version is optionally available on just one seperate DVD disc.

Completley excellent in every aspect. Strong, interesting characters playing off each other in a remarkable manner, a rich plot that can take any number of terms backed with gritty realism to appel to every audience. Even if your not a fan of sci fi, give this a go
