3 parts, 2 discs, 1 choice

Kevin Potts from Oswestry, England, 17th September, 2006

This film actually is 4 and a half hours long and its split up into 3 parts of 91 mins. A very gripping thriller if you can get past the dodgy accents and the need to say everyones full name instead of just using the christian name and if the town manager doesnt annoy the hell out of you then theres something wrong. Overall a very watchable film.

A Film of three halves!!!

Andrew Tipple from South London, 2nd February, 2007

How irritating. I read the book many years ago, and was pleased to find it available on DVD. What a disapointment therefore to get Part 3 only. Where are the first 2 bits. (I gather they are on 1 DVD). Obviously from previous reviews the other DVD is available, why is it not listed as a 2-disk set? Perhaps those who have had parts 1 & 2 should set up their own exchange scheme!!

Gripping yarn

A Customer from York, England, 21st December, 2006

I had not read the book, so found the yarn very gripping. It is based in Maine in New England and centred around a small fishing community. It begins with the brutal murder of a nice old lady and it soon becomes apparent that there is something unearthly about the murderer, who appears to know all the dark secrets of the locals. I will not give the plot away but needlessto say the ending is heart rendering.

Left thinking

A Customer from Horsham, 4th November, 2008

I haven't read the book & didn't even know there was one. I was taken in from the very beginning & couldn't wait to find out the reason why this stranger had visited the island. After the plot was revealed & the movie finished it left me thinking. Perhaps for the situation the people of the island found themselves in, one I wouldn't like to be in. You'll just have to watch it.
