A Japanese horror film director starts shooting a film about a real life mass murder case that took place in the 1970s. An actress begins to experience the murders as though they are happening around her and other bizarre things start occurring on the set. She discovers an 8mm camera that she subsequently develops, with terrifying consequences. Produced by Taka Ichise (RING, DARK WATER) and directed by Takashi Shimizue (JU-ON: THE GRUDGE), REINCARNATION--also known as RINNE--is a chilling and unsettling Japanese ghost story that incorporates the unnervingly scary style of psychological horror that the duo demonstrated in their highly successful previous films. There are a number of spine-tingling chills and plot twists in this stylish and entertaining film.

another winner

michael smith from ipswich, 25th January, 2007

Takeshi Shimzu proves yet again that he is not a 'one trick pony' by surpassing his 'Grudge' series. After watching ALL the grudge's and Maribito I knew the guy was great, but, He has exceeded the greatness mark with 'Reincarnation'. Unlike the other new wave Japanese horror films it comes across like the currently superior korean horror films available. Not only did it give me a good scare, great creep factor and some excellent 'jump' moments, but, It literally took me until almost the end of the film to get 'the punch' line. If you see Takeshi Shimzu's name on it - Watch it! You won't be dissapointed!

Nobody makes them like the Japanese

Mark Elsdon from Tiree, Scotland, 20th September, 2006

The shining meets the ring. Refreshingly different that keeps you watching until the end. A few plot twists that keep you guessing and best of all you can't predict the ending. Basic plot mad (or is he?) professor goes on a random killing spree. The subtitles are translated well so that you know whats being said (or looked at). Well worth watching if you are into spooky horror. Also has freaky doll. (aka Chucky).

No one does it better!

Jon from Norwich, 15th July, 2007

That is horror by the Japanese. Another film by the Japanese to show that you do not need lots of gore to make a film scary. Think of the shinning meets the grudge (it was made by the same people) and you will not be disappointed. Top marks!

a little twisty, a little average

breatheasier from from BRIGHTON, 4th July, 2007

Whilst the Americans seem determined in producing gore fest- torture movies those of us who prefer subtlety and jumps have turned to the Japanese and Korean industries for our horror. Unfortunately after a while the formula in the Japanese market becomes all too familiar and the horror... well a little less effective. With large hints of the Shining ( man kills family in a hotel and after time the event more or less repeats itself) this film is a small departure from other Japanese horror films but still holds on to the small girl character creeping around and the constant state of running away from something. There is a decent enough twist and the added zombie-esque sequence is alright but the rather bizarre end scene with the doll borders on the Chucky side of things and you can't help but feel as if the lead character got a bit of a raw deal by the time it all comes to it's slightly rushed and unfair ending. Overall, if you've never seen a Japanese horror ( and I mean Japanese, not a remake) then look for something else to start with, there are scarier films out there and this will only give you a weak impression. If you're familiar with them then watch this to boost your numbers.... it's not a complete let down.

Good idea

A Customer from Dorset, England, 15th November, 2007

After landing a role in a horror film, the actress experiences weird feelings and has strange visions connected to a hotel massacre that happened 40 years ago, which is what her film is all about.

charcters return

Koppert from from Scarborough, 6th November, 2007

Horror of the typical Japanese fair with creking awkward moving spooky aperitions deep rooted in their history. This time dealing with a murder of the past and reicarnation of the characters. not as good as others the producer and director have made but still better than any of the recent Hollywood horror by a long long way
