Great entertainment for the whole family

lfcrule1972 from South Coast, England, 20th March, 2007

The whole family enjoyed this series from ITV which was originally shown on Saturday evenings. It was slightly more scary than the revived Dr Who series on BBC1 (well according to the kids) and despite a relatively unknown cast it had us gripped from the 1st episode. It's not a scientifically accurate series (this would ruin the mass appeal of it) but it does mix scary dinosaurs with interesting stories and these appealed to all of us from age 5 to 36 ! Well done ITV for breaking the mold of reality tv offerings and doing something really entertaining. Our only gripe is that the series was too short and we now have to wait to see what is about to happen....

Pleasantly surprised

Scully from , 25th March, 2007

Wasn't expecting much of a new Saturday night ITV sci-fi show, but have been more than pleasantly surprised and was sad to see the series end. More than a match for something like Torchwood, which entertained me and annoyed me in equal measure. True, it's a bit silly, but that's all part of the fun. The characters are likeable, there are some genuinely funny bits, and the special effects are impressive. A particularly genius move was to attract male viewers by incorporating a storyline about a pet prehistoric lizard that needs the temperature so high Hannah Spearritt appears in her knickers at least once every episode. Not that I'm complaining - I'm just happy to see the lovely Douglas Henshall in a leading role on prime-time tv, regardless of what he is or isn't wearing. Hopefully in the second series we'll find out more about the life of time-travelling-bitchy-wife-woman. I mean, come on, with teeth that white she must have to pop back through the anomaly on a regular basis just to visit the hygenist, plus I'm intrigued to know where she gets her continuous supply of tight-fitting khaki shirts (maybe she nicks them off Michaela Stachan's washing line).
