OK, so this is a fairly predictable film - it isn't going to have a shocking plot twist half way through, and you already know the ending by the time the film reaches the 20 minute mark. That doesn't mean that it's not worth watching though! Kenya McQueen thinks she knows exactly what she wants out of life, and exactly how people are going to react to her, so she takes preventative measures. She's withdrawn and hesitant to take chances on love or work. So it comes as a surprise to her to be attracted to Brian Kelly, a relaxed landscaper, who is definitely not her ideal man - not least because he's not black. It's an enjoyable watch, focusing on Kenya coming out of her shell and learning to enjoy whatever life throws at her (from spiders, sudden rainstorms and cotillions!). And yes, honestly, it got an extra mark for the fact that Simon Baker spends some time half-naked.
