In the 1920s, a group of archaeologists led by adventurer Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) discovers the mummified body of Imhotep, an Egyptian priest who was cursed for falling in love with the Pharoah's mistress. When they accidentally resurrect him, the battle for survival begins, as the mummy begins to use his powers to reclaim his long-lost love. Director Stephen Sommers updates this classic Universal monster for the 1990s, using a dazzling array of computer-generated special effects. Fun performances from Fraser and Rachel Weisz add to the tongue-in-cheek Saturday matinee appeal.

Timeless

A Customer from Southampton, England., 29th August, 2007

Definitely worth a watch in HD. I have had this on HD DVD for a couple of months and have found it as entertaining as the first time I saw it on DVD in 1999. But I found it more so because I could see the amount of detail HD brings to the screen. I am one of the lucky ones whom can watch it in full 1080P and this certainly gives it the Cinematic quality. The film is one of those classics that like Indiana Jones series never goes out of fashion. Definitely one for those nights home by the fire as we move into the Autumn months. Definitely a Rental reserve.

Not as good as I remember, but still good!

atomcraft from from London, 20th March, 2008

When this film first came out, it boasted some of the best visual effects I had ever seen.... at the time.... which was 1998. Watching it today in HD, it doesn't look as slick as I remember, but still it's a good romp and worth watching if you've never seen it before. For those who have seen it before, and want to watch it to enjoy it on a 50' tv in HD - you may be a bit dissapointed. Watch Blade Runner HD edition instead - it's great.

HD ROCKS

A Customer from Uphall, Scotland, 31st July, 2007

The original version is a geat film but watching it in the HD format was outstanding the picture clarity and sound depth were tremendous, not all HD films have been made like this which makes them a disappointing watch. The only downside was that picture quality was so good you could actually make out the CGI backgrounds whick looked really false.
