A contemporary drama set in Washington, D.C., The Walker centers around Carter Page (Harrelson), a well-heeled and popular socialite who serves as confidant, companion, and card partner to some of the capitol's leading ladies. These pampered women are married to the most powerful men in America, and when their husbands are too busy running the country to attend to their wives, they turn to their 'best friend' Carter, for warmth, wit, and wisdom.

Carter's loyalty is tested when his dearest friend (Scott Thomas) finds herself on the brink of a scandal that could destroy her reputation and her husband's career. Offering to cover for her, Carter suppresses incriminating evidence, only to find himself the chief suspect in a criminal investigation. Suddenly, this well-connected man-about-town is a pariah, hounded by the police and forced to find the true culprit and clear his name. More importantly, he must re-examine whether it is important to be accepted by a society based on betrayal, hypocrisy, and corruption.

Avoid

A Customer from Dundee, Scotland, 26th February, 2008

Do not rent this if you expect an exciting thriller. Woody Harelson is good, as is the acting in general, but the pacing is terrible. My first single star goes to The Walker.

Sit on a drawing pin

Benhuczek from , 14th March, 2008

I know, it's unusual to review the truly dreadful but I feel I must save you, dear reader from what I had to go through. This was appalling. Woody playing some sort of gay walker; apparently somebody who takes ladies wot lunch out shopping. His portrayal of the character is so uninspiring, you really can't wait for a scene without him. If you want to get to the end of the movie, you'll need to .... sit on a drawing pin to keep awake. Ideal gift for the mother-in-law!

A bit slow at times

A Customer from Linlithgow, 19th January, 2008

I found Harleyson's accent difficult to hear at times. Generally found it a bit slow. I am sure there was depths to the film I missed as my brain kept wandering off.

Too stylised

A Customer from Letchworth Garden City, 14th April, 2010

Woody Harleson's accent is almost indecipherable to my ears which didn't help in this wordy film. Couldn't engage with any other characters.

The Walker

Keeley Andrews from Wickford, Essex, 20th January, 2010

This film started off quite well but I have to admit about 20 minutes from the end I began to lose interest! It all got a little bit silly and complicated and in my opinion the ending was all a little anti-climatic.... Woody Harrelson and Kristen Scott Thomas were very good, as was the wonderful Lauren Bacall. It wasn't a bad film but it definitely wouldn't be one I would watch again.

Too slow

Enjoyable film by the end but it took so long to get going. Some great performances, especially Woody Harrelston.

URGH!

A Customer from Leyburn, 16th September, 2009

I turn this off after half an hour and can't believe it took me that long. Woody Harrelson plays should be put up for the most annoying character on screen and the plot seemed to go nowhere. A truly terrible film!
