Compelling till the end

This film starts slowly but as with all Poliakoff films he is merley whetting you appetite. What follows is beautifully filmed, acted and written. A superb drama of a man compelled to find out his fathers secrets so that he can find his own destiny. I can not recommend this enough.

After coming accros this film on bbc 4 i had to rent it to watch again and share it with friends. Polkiof's films are subtle. It's very dificult to describe how and why it is so enjoyablel. If your into your arthouse films then you will like this. Another film i recommend is elephant
Exceptional

Having been an extra, and supplied a pre-war car for the filming in Greenwich Park, I greatly enjoyed the preview, at the BFI under Waterloo Bridge, of the trilogy that Joe's Palace forms part. The footage used included neither me or my vehicle, but I was so lucky to have had a reason to catch this beautifully crafted film. Wonderful Michael Gambon is at his best, and the story line is unusual, well-developed and quite moving. Thoroughly recommended.

Poliakoff is brilliant. This is one of my fav films ever. The script is so tight as always and there are some great characters and acting.
