Visuals & jokes 1, plot nil

A Customer from West Sussex, UK, 5th January, 2008

As a visual review this movie is one of the best Blu-Ray has to offer, with almost blinding colours, clarity & vibrance - A real showcase for the format. As for a review of the film itself I have to say it's not as good as it's picture quality. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of very funny one liners, in jokes and quips but the actual story of the film isn't that great at all and just feels like an extended episode of the show. Great movie for a rental and to show off your HDTV & Blu-Ray to your friends but not a movie you'd watch more than once and definitely a rental as oppossed to a keeper.

Funny In Places

KatiMark from , 23rd January, 2008

I remember watching this at the cinema, and then instantly forgot. So I rented it! I watched it last night so it's clear in my mind what I liked and what I disliked. Unfortunately the dislikes are insurmountable. By tomorrow I will have forgot once again what was even in the film. As usual the American scripting allows for many cheap shots towards various countries, some more subtle than others. It felt more like another side to a political frontier than designed as a comedy. There were some funny moments however, with one liners that you would expect from the normal shows. Nelsons laugh is still infectious. Homer always saying or doing something stupid and Moe making us all laugh with his constantly negative outbursts. Unfortunately they were lost for original story lines. Lisa was appointed a dreadful part of the film. One that you could relate to watching Frodo in Lord of the Rings. Everyone knew it was essential to have it in the film.. just no one wanted to watch it. I gave it 2 stars, and it was lucky to get that many. But then, if you can shove your kids in front of it and get some peace and quiet for a couple of hours, it was worth the rent.

Simpsons Movie blu ray version

Didn't think Simpsons made the transition from short to movie very well. A few laughs but mostly pointless stuff that never went anywhere. Not as good as the series.

Not to bad second time round

John Bassil from Hertfordshire, 1st June, 2009

I saw this movie at the cinema, and although i used to be a big fan of the Simpson's when i was younger this movie failed to deliver (probably due to my high expectations). The humor seemed forced and the plots/characters are even more predictable then ever. However whilst looking for something animated that would look good on bluray i thought i would give this a second chance . And i wasn't disappointed. The visuals are stunning and the sound is top notch. The story was still a little disappointing second time round but i didn't dislike it as much as i did the first time round. I think this is because i didn't expect to much from it on my second watch and therefore wasn't disappointed. If your after a good comedy cartoon grab the family guy movie or a south park season or variant and steer clear of this. However if you have a family of kids to keep entertained I'm sure this will work wonders.

Rubbish!

atrunkfield from , 1st May, 2009

I'm a huge fan of The Simpsons, usually a fresh, witty take on life, but this is something else. This is like The Simpsons dark little secret kept in the cellar and fed on slops. They say a 1000 monkeys with 1000 typewriters could recreate Shakespeare, well it's as if they attempted to do that with this film, but only gave the monkeys 48 hours and the monkeys got bored. If you like The Simpsons - AVOID THIS FILM, it's utter tosh. If you're a slack jawed yokel, enjoy!
