They don't get any better than this...,

crockery from from Belfast, 29th June, 2008

Rather than offering the usual trite 'Make Sure You Don't Miss This Film' I will simply say, 'Don't Bother Watching Anything Else In 2008' Personal I never had any experiance of drugs and nobody I know have been using drugs - but I don't think this stunning film doesn't just get it right when it comes to the horrors of heroin addiction it provides powerful hints as to the best way for an addict to make good his escape! But this flick is much, much more than a primer on drug addiction. It is simply one of the most moving and motivating flicks I've ever seen on the potential for creative change achievable through the decidedly Low Tech technique of people realizing that in the end the Bell Tolls Today for us all. Better yet it illustrates beautifully and with great emotional impacting the almost unbelievable potential inherent in the process of one and all working towards something a bit larger than making selfish self come true. My hat is off to everyone involved in this stunning piece of work! Brilliant script, brilliant directing, brilliant acting and some of the most innovative and creative camera work that I've every had the joy of experiencing

Too much talking

Chantal from , 20th August, 2008

This was weirdly cut and there were too many dialogues. The story is messy and slow. Sorry I couldn't get into it enough to watch it till the end.

Things we lost in the fire.

A Customer from Abertawe, 2nd September, 2008

For the first half an hour or so I didn't think this was going to be for me then suddenly things started to click into place and I found that I was hooked. A recently widowed thirty something Audrey (Halle Berry) whose world revolved around her husband Brian (David Duchovny) invites his troubled best friend and heroin addict Jerry Sunborne (Benicio Del Toro ) who she's always hated to live with her and her two children following his death . As the story unfolds and Audrey clings on to Jerry as one of the last connections to her husband she begins to discover the redeeming qualities her husband had always seen in him and the children look to him for guidance as he tries to heal their wounds and his own despite his obvious vulnerability. As he gradually turns his life around, he helps the family cope and confront their loss and the huge pain and void they are all feeling whilst dealing with his own demons, and Del Toro's performance is probably one of the best he's given, but Berry although excellent in her own way is a tad over the top on times, and a little souless, and as a result Del Toro's understated showing dominates . It's a poignant well crafted , powerful story and at just over two hour 's long is fairly slow paced, but it oozes quality and is worth just one watch for Del Toro's performance alone. Be patient it's slow moving in parts but has a lot to say for itself.

A memorable message

A Customer from Midlands, 27th July, 2008

Any film that begins with a funeral had better provide some wonderful performances, and luckily this one did. Am a fan of Del Toro and this was one of his best. The opening scenes make you wonder how they are going to keep you entertained for the rest of the film but as the story line progresses your interest in the characters will keep you hooked. A positive and life affirming message makes it a film that will leave you more up than down despite the subject matter (but have the tissues ready!)

Great Drama

A Customer from Bournemouth, 10th August, 2008

This was a great film about grief and trying to deal with it. Berry is great as a recently widowed woman who's husband was killed while trying to help a young woman. While the Del Toro stals the film with a great performance that should of been nominated for oscar. His performance is powerful, yet equally subtle. overall a great film
